The "Yage" is a beverage that is prepared only when it is needed to find out a situation by the community or they have to heal the sick people. This beverage is prepared putting it into the jungle -in a special place designated for this purpose. People, cut the vine and through the smell they know if the plant is ready or if its effect could be stronger. Then the plant is cut in small pieces and tenderized. After this, the  preparation goes to a pot, where it will be cooked during two hours. Later, the mixture is taken out and tenderized again and then goes to the pot over.

The "Yagé" has a light brown color similar to tea. The beverage stands and then is taken to the "Casa comunal" -a community house-. During the ceremony, native people sing a  slow song, very emotive by the way- and other ones sing in answer, with nasal sounds. The person who drinks "Yagé" experiments different things similar to relaxing and a kind of madness. As contrary effects, the beverage can cause vomiting and diarrhea (the first time) but it does not cause hang over as the common alcoholic drinks.
