It is a young city located in the foothills of the Cordillera Oriental. It limits by the North with the Department of Huila and El Paujil municipality, on the East by the municipalities of El Paujil and La Montañita, to the South with the municipalities of Milan and Morelia, and by the West with the municipality of Belen de los Andaquies and the Huila Department.

the city is connected to the interior of the country through the following connections to the national road network:

National road 20: enters the Eastern Cordillera in direction North-West to intercept with the National Highway 45. In this way it can be to Neiva and from there to the most important cities of Colombia.

Carretera Marginal de la Selva or national road 65: in the stretch Troncal de la Selva, which communicates to the North with the municipalities of La Montanita and El Paujil, El Doncello, Puerto Rico and San Vicente de el Caguán, and to the South with Morelia, Belen de los Andaquies, San José de el Fragua, Mocoa, Puerto Asis, Orito, San Miguel and the international bridge of San Miguel on the border with Ecuador.
